Sizing Things Up Quest Walkthrough

Sizing Things Up is a Pendola Pass quest given by Celeste, part of the Frozen Trail quest line (previous: Off The Radar; next: Belly Of The Beast). She wants you to scout the downed Emperor abandoned in the region — photograph its leg, analyze its exposed parts, reach its base, and pull a valuable ARC Conductive Coupler out of a buried payload.

• Granted item: Basic Camera (also buyable from Shani if you lose it).
• Required to extract: the ARC Conductive Coupler from the Buried Harvester Payload.
• Rewards: 3x Adrenaline Shot, Exodus Technical Handbook, Bettina I, 60 Heavy Rounds, 5,000 XP.

Objective 1: Photograph the Emperor’s Leg

Head to Old Town on the southwest side of the map, next to the Transit Tunnel. The leg itself sits right on the border of that point of interest: stand on the leg close to the Transit Tunnel, facing the leg nearest Old Town. Equip the Camera, zoom in, and snap a full picture of the leg to clear this objective.

Optional: Break Open the Crashed Probe

Do this before analyzing the exposed part — the optional objective disappears once you do.

Make your way west of Porta Benvenuti, next to Almatera Station, and stand under the Emperor’s Leg that points to the northwest. A partially snow-covered probe is buried in the ground nearby; it can be tricky to spot, so move in close and interact with it, then inspect the circuitry inside to complete the optional side objective.

Objective 2: Analyze the Exposed Area

Now climb onto the massive Emperor foot on the north side of the Railyard, near Railroad Junction. You are exposed while standing up there — scan first for Wasps or Hornets that might spot you mid-interaction, then interact with the exposed part to analyze it.

Objective 3: Reach the Base of the Emperor

Approach the Emperor’s central base west of Piazza della Rupe. It is a wide area, so you can come at it from any angle — but multiple ARCs usually patrol around it. Use abandoned houses as cover from both patrols and snowstorms, and the objective completes as soon as you get close to the base body.

Objective 4: Search the Buried Harvester Payload

Right near the Emperor’s entrance, next to some destroyed salvage, sits the Buried Harvester Payload. Interact with the container to open it and pick up the ARC Conductive Coupler. You need a free inventory slot, and you must extract with the item on you.

Then leave by any extraction method, return to Speranza, and hand the Coupler to Celeste to finish the quest.

Tips

• Camera first. If you arrive without one, the photo objective blocks the whole quest — rebuy it from Shani before deploying again.
• Do the probe early. Investigate the crashed probe before analyzing the exposed area, or the optional objective crosses itself out.
• Safe the Coupler. Tuck it into a Safe Pocket the moment you pick it up; dying with it means another Pendola Pass run.
• Time the exposed-area interaction. Climbing the leg leaves you in the open — check the skies for Wasps and Hornets before interacting.
